What is Crimson Vanguard? Who is in charge? And what is your favorite cookie recipe? Well, you have come to the right place! Read on!

What is Crimson Vanguard?

The Crimson Vanguard is an Overwatch Gaming Guild. We are a group of adults, all 16+, that enjoy playing Overwatch, cutting up, and having a good time together.

If you are unfamiliar with the Overwatch game itself, you can find more information about the game on their website.

Why only adults?

Our language, jokes, and the way we communicate in general lean WAY towards the adult end of the pool. We cuss, cut up, and tell politically incorrect jokes at times. Think of it as a group of really old friends hanging out and giving each other grief and sharing stories. Within that group, it is perfectly fine, but in the eyes of others, some may really cringe at our punch lines.

As parents ourselves, we feel that this should be kept out of the ears of little ones. For that reason, we ask that only players who are 16+ apply to join the guild.

What does “terrae tutandi” mean in your logo?

Terrae tutandi is Latin for “Protecting Earth.” This idea not only fits within the Overwatch universe of protecting Earth from the Omnic crisis and other villains but it also has another meaning for our guild leader, Shepherd, and many of our members.

Nature and our environment are important for humanity as a whole. Mankind has done a piss-poor job at taking care of Mother Nature up to this point as a whole. For the Crimson Vanguard, we would like to see that change.

Our yearly fundraiser will also focus around this. Starting in mid-November, the guild asks its members to volunteer at local animal shelter, or picking up trash on the beach, or donate to the World Wildlife Fund, to the Australian Zoo. It is our goal to make a difference in the world we live in.

What do I get if I become a member?

The number one reason to join is a built-in group of friends who love the same hobby as you. We are here to laugh, love, and have fun playing Overwatch. As you will quickly find out, the members of the ‘guard are a fun loving group and love to meet new friends.

We host a Discord server for our members on which you can find a room for each level of player from Bronze SR all the way up to Grand Master allowing you to find guildmates of your level easily. You will also find rooms for Quick Play and other modes of play.

Our site also hosts member forums to share strategies, best practices, or our lives. It also hosts our member list for you to add to your friends in game.

The Overwatch team has also confirmed that they will be implementing a guild system within the game. Once this has been released, we will all benefit from their glorious hard work and thrive in the bonuses in Overwatch.

How do I become a member of Crimson Vanguard?

We have an application to join Crimson Vanguard. You must be 16+ years old and make sure you have read over the Code of Conduct. You will be expected to adhere to all of them as a member. Once you are ready to apply, simply fill out our application.

What is your favorite cookie recipe?

It is hard to beat a good old-fashioned chocolate chip, but I think these do it.

We have to give a nod to the Pioneer Woman’s Chocolate Chunk Cookies! We removed the optional pecans from the recipe here…cuz we are allergic to them.

  • 1 cup (2 Sticks) Salted Butter
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar, Packed
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 2 whole Large Eggs
  • 1 Tablespoon Vanilla
  • 2 cups All-purpose Flour
  • 2 Tablespoons (additional) All-purpose Flour (rounded Tablespoons)
  • 2 teaspoons Instant Coffee Granules
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 8 ounces, weight Good Semi-sweet Chocolate, Chopped Into Chunks
Add one stick of butter to a medium skillet over medium heat. Allow it to melt and bubble up for 3 to 4 minutes, swirling the pan to keep the butter moving around. When the butter is a medium golden brown, remove the pan from the heat (it will continue browning in the pan over the next 30 seconds or so!) Pour butter (and any solids in the bottom of the pan) into a heatproof bowl and allow it to cool completely, about 30 minutes. Meanwhile, allow the other stick of butter to soften.

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees*.

Cream the softened butter together with the brown sugar and regular sugar until it’s nice and combined. Add the eggs and vanilla, and beat until smooth, scraping the bowl if necessary to make sure everything is incorporated.

With the mixer on medium-low, very slowly drizzle in the cooled melted butter, making sure to add all the darker brown solids. Scrape the bowl the mix again for 20-30 seconds, until everything is combined.

In a separate bowl, combine the flour, coffee granules, baking soda and salt. Stir together, then add it in 1/3 increments, mixing on low, until it’s totally incorporated. Scrape the bowl and beat for a few more seconds. Stir in the chocolate chunks and nuts, if using.

In batches, scoop by heaping teaspoon onto a baking sheet lined with a baking mat, Press extra chocolate chunks into the tops of each cookie, if desired. Refrigerate scoped cookies for 15 minutes, then bake for 9 to 10 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from oven, then transfer cookies to a cooling rack. Repeat with the rest of the dough. Serve cookies with a big glass of cold milk!
